Major Makeover/New Management of Fourth Street Retailer Long Overdue: Adds to Revitalization of Downtown Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa, CA - September 27, 2005 - Despite the current buzz circulating around the promise of a revitalized downtown, a shift of this scale and scope will happen only as retailers jump onboard. Cupcake—A boutique for the trendy tot, is one Fourth Street merchant delivering on the hype. Occupying the retail space formerly owned by Rococo Baby, new owners, Jenny and Ramin Ramhormozi, have created a delightful treat that any serious tot-shopper will savor. This dynamic husband and wife team bring an upscale, hip line of baby apparel (infant to 4T), books, gifts and accessories to downtown's current retail line-up. The new space has been completely transformed and promises a warm, inviting shopping experience — soon to be complete with a safe play area for the little ones to enjoy. Cupcake's brand new attitude and look will have everyone screaming for more.
The couple purchased Rococo Baby in March 2005 and got busy overhauling just about everything. "While we felt it was important to stick with a few of the items Rococo Baby was known for, we saw a need for fresher and more unique items that can't be found anywhere else in Sonoma County," explained Jenny. Being from Los Angeles, Jenny and Ramin are inspired by hip trends in fashion and design, giving them the vision and direction for the store's new look and upscale vibe. When asked about her long term vision for Cupcake, Jenny says, "I'm inspired to create something like Anthropologie, but for the smaller set. I'm interested in craftsmanship, details, and that certain something special that makes finding each item, such as a diaper bag or a onesie, like a personal discovery. Shoppers will feel good knowing they'll be able to find names like Beetlejuice, Meli Meli, Kiwi and One Kid. Right now you have to go to San Francisco or Corte Madera for this."
While good customer service seems like such an obvious part of business, Ramin and Jenny knows it's often overlooked. "We are 100 percent focused on creating a pleasurable experience for each and every customer. From the moment you walk through our door, we want you to feel comfortable, relaxed and at home, as if you are one of our friends," says Ramin.
Cupcake's in-store baby registry and online store makes this retailer one to watch. And the couple hopes these extras will enhance overall customer experience. The idea for an online store came from visitors from outside Santa Rosa attracted to the downtown area. "We had several out-of-town buyers call us after returning home asking for items to be shipped either directly to them or to gift recipients. We hope that our online store launching October 10th at www.shopcupcake.com , makes them feel as if they're back in our store on Fourth Street. And, of course, a baby registry was a must-while new moms need to register for the practical items, what they really want are unique, hard to find gifts... that's the icing on our cake."
Jenny, a resident of Sonoma County during the 70's and 80's says she's seen Santa Rosa go through many different stages. "I'm excited by the growth and change I see happening in downtown, especially on Fourth Street. Several new businesses have opened recently, while existing businesses are working hard to improve their appearance and enliven customers' shopping experience. I see huge potential for a hipper and livelier downtown atmosphere. We are thrilled to be a part of it."
