Petunia Pickle Bottom - A Diaper Bag as Unforgettable as it's Name By Cupcake Jenny 06/15/09
With a whimsical name that is just plain fun to utter (we dare you to say it three times fast), the baby accessory company Petunia Pickle Bottom has become our unswerving choice for the unnerving parental responsibility of toting around a diaper bag. Organizing diapers, wipes, snacks and toys along with your own accessories such as phones, keys, makeup and other essentials can be such a jumbled up, bumbled up mess - but not with Petunia Pickle Bottom! Bringing a chic uptown style to what could otherwise be a dowdy and dreadful addition to your outings with baby; Petunia Pickle Bottom elevates and organizes the event into every fashion conscious gal's dream.
Mindful to the needs of modern parents, the Petunia Pickle Bottom brand features three diaper bag lines that will shatter your pre-conceived notions of a dreary diaper bag. The popular "Original" collection features innovative roomy and trendy styles that eventually launched the couture "Cake" collection offering up richly sumptuous, boutique-y style bags that in turn lead to addressing the needs of the under-served dad demographic with the cool urban male "Scout" line. Whew! All this success has even taken them into the baby accessory market and upscale baby bedding market with their simple and elegant "nesting" gear from the Fawn line.
President and founder, DeNai Jones, of Petunia Pickle Bottom describes herself as an innately creative being and a glue-glitter-and-construction-paper kind of kid who later studied the fine arts in college. After unsuccessfully looking for baby gifts to give to pregnant friends that met her discerning aesthetic, she saw a hole in the market and decided to project her passion for pretty yet useful things into a fledgling business. Along with her business-minded husband, Braden Jones, and best friend from high school days, Kori Conant, DeNai Jones has developed Petunia Pickle Bottom into a highly regarded baby accessory company that sells products around the world and employs more than 20 petunias.
If you are still taking the tongue-twister challenge we issued at the beginning, you may be wondering how the unusual name of Petunia Pickle Bottom came to be. Ms. Jones says that her dad can be credited with the silly and sentimental nickname he gave her as a child. Apparently, the name was inspired by a special father-daughter playtime when dad was entertaining her with light-hearted, nonsensical singing and delightful harmonica playing. Quite lyrical and not likely to be forgotten anytime soon, the name has stuck with customers - she reports that even mail sometimes arrives to the office addressed to the fictional Mrs. Petunia P. Bottom!
