Sesame Street at Cupcake? No Way.

Sesame Street at Cupcake? No Way.

Anyone who knows me and my buying style knows that I typically stay away from any and all clothing with characters. Whether it's a onesie with classic characters such as teddy bears and ducks or a t-shirt with Elmo or Bugs Bunny, they're just not my thing. So when I walked into one of my favorite showrooms and one of my favorite reps exclaimed "I can't wait to show you our new Sesame Street line" I seriously thought she had lost her mind (and I'm sure the look on my face told her so)! She preceded to pull out a colorful bunch of t-shirts and hats and they just happened to be the most adorable Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, Abbie Cadabby and Elmo t-shirts I had ever seen. I'm not kidding you, it was love at first sight. First of all, each t-shirt is handmade and one-of-a-kind. HUGE plus number one! Second, the sleeves are made out of socks. Are you kidding me? How genius and how incredibly cool is that?! Third, the fabrics she uses are all recycled- score for the planet! Fourth, the tees are all made in the US- score for the good ole' USofA. And the best part? They're the most artistically adorable renditions of Sesame Street characters I've ever seen. This was one of those moments that seriously made me think, "Now why didn't I think of that?" Well since I didn't, I'm glad that designer-mama Julie Barger did when she created her innovative company Morf's Brand. Best known for her sock monkey designs and fantastic use of socks, leg warmers and recycled jersey, she's outdone herself with this new Sesame Street collection! These truly are mini, wearable works of art and we're so, so excited to have them in the store.

And while the hats apparently didn't make the cut this season (licensing issues or something), Mr. Cupcake modeled one for me and of course, again, love at first sight! But then again I can't imagine I wouldn't fall in love with anything he was wearing. Don't you just want one for yourself? Or at least your little cupcake?
